You Can’t Fight City Hall, Bren – 2015

A comedy by Pam Valentine

This involved a 3-course dinner, themed quiz followed by a one act comedy written by local playwright, Pam Valentine.
“You can’t fight City Hall, Bren” puts a wonderful comedic twist on the tale of Alan Wakefield’s mother whose house is to be compulsorily purchased to make way for a new motorway. She has been dreading the arrival of the letter confirming details of when she must leave her home of forty years.

Set in the 1970’s when motorways were being built throughout the country, the play exposes the normal tensions of family life and how we all struggle to cope with the differing demands of spouses, in laws and children.
